Preparation for analgosedation

Your journey to a healthy, confident smile starts here. At Luxdentica, we make sure your first visit is comfortable, efficient, and fully personalized — because great treatment begins with understanding you.

What Is Analgesosedation?

Analgesosedation, also known as intravenous sedation, involves the administration of a combination of pain-relieving and calming medications by a qualified anesthesiologist.
It induces a state similar to light sleep — the patient remains conscious, can follow the dentist’s instructions, and feels completely relaxed.
After waking up, there is no memory of the dental procedure, making the entire experience stress-free and comfortable.

Preparation for the Procedure

Before sedation, the patient must undergo qualification with a doctor during a dental consultation. During this meeting:

The dentist and anesthesiologist will discuss your overall health and medical history.
You’ll receive detailed information about required examinations and pre-sedation instructions.
If you suffer from any chronic illnesses, it’s essential to inform the medical team beforehand.
Preparation for the Procedure

To ensure your safety:

Do not eat for 6 hours before the procedure.
Do not drink for 4 hours before the procedure.

Additionally, the patient must be in good overall health — symptoms such as cough, runny nose, or fever can delay the treatment.

After the Procedure

Following sedation:

  • You’ll need approximately 2 hours to fully recover.

  • Arrange for someone to accompany you, as driving is not permitted on the same day.

  • Mild symptoms like drowsiness, imbalance, or fatigue are normal and temporary.

When Is Analgesosedation Recommended?

Analgesosedation is ideal for patients who experience:
Dental anxiety or phobia
Long or complex surgical procedures
Low pain threshold
Strong gag reflex
Hypersensitivity
Intellectual or physical disability
Difficulty cooperating (e.g., in young children)
Chronic conditions requiring intravenous medication

When Is Analgesosedation Not Recommended?

Intravenous sedation may not be suitable for patients with:
Pregnancy
Diabetes
Kidney or liver failure
Hyperthyroidism
Certain respiratory disorders
Use of psychoactive medications

Important: Sedation cannot be performed if the patient fails to maintain fasting for at least 6 hours before anesthesia.
